Glass Terrariums
Windows into past lives
I’ve found myself experimenting and moving deeper into a new creative direction alongside my painting. I paint flowers and photograph them, but I can’t help myself from collecting them, tinkering away with drying methods attempting to maintain form and vibrancy even in death. This innate need also goes for all of Great Mother’s treasures I stumble across - bees, honeycomb, crabs, seaweed, snails, feathers, bark, petals, rocks, and seeds. They’re all so magical in their own way- texture, color, uniqueness, rarity, and fragility. I’ve become a collector of vessels that have become hollow and forgotten or ignored. They assume their beauty and purpose somehow once I rearrange them with one another in a glass of memory. I don’t aim to create a legacy for the once living, but instead I find myself focusing on the death work of providing a home for these moments lost to time. Safety, purpose and love to those forgotten or ignored. In a time like this, the notion feels important.
As you can imagine, these products are difficult to ship and thus are only available in person at the various markets I attend. All markets and terrariums are announced in advance through my Instagram account. Please be sure to follow me @MogsBox if you’re interested or please feel free to email me to learn about my next art drop.
